Born to Run by Christopher McDougall

Oh wow! Is all I can really say! Last winter I received my five finger toe shoes and now I'm a big advocate for barefoot running shoes.
A client referred "Born to Run" by Christopher McDougall and I'm even more obsessed with my shoes. This book is a non-fiction based on a man trying to find out why we have so many injuries running, but yet it's a natural thing to do. After hearing about the Tarahumara's, he seeks out how and why they can run for days on end and run for pure pleasure.
Even if you are not a runner, this book has a great storyline, easy read, and a wonderful hidden message to love what you do, do what you love, and you will start to run with joy!

The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein

"The Art of Racing in the Rain" by Garth Stein caught my eye a few times at the book store, but it took a friend recommending it to me for me to actually pick it up and read it. And boy, am I so thankful I did! The cover is just the top of a dog's head and that's basically what this book is about... What's really going on in Enzo's mind. His owner is a race car driver trying to go pro. They watch his racing movies together and Enzo takes everything Denny has to teach him to heart. Their family grows and then there is tragedy that tears them apart. But with the love, compassion and intuituion a dog has, Denny is able to keep going in life, in love and in the race! Such a heart warming book that will make you want a dog if you don't already have one and make you smile because we've all wondered what is really going on in their precious brains.

Change of Heart by Jodi Picoult

"Change of Heart" by Jodi Picoult is an extremely intense book from start to finish. Jodi Picoult is such a talented writer and her books will catch you from the start. I'm not the biggest fan of the covers because I love bright flashy cover and her covers show a glimpse of the story without giving too much away. "Change of Heart" shows a picture of a girl with her back to you, which is the last thing she or any of the characters does in this story. Each character has some fear, guilt, and courage to keep going even through the toughest challenge life brings to them. You will not be able to put this book down because each page, each chapter, has something unfolding. I wouldn't pass any book of Jodi's by even if the cover isn't to my liking!

New Found Glory

I have found a website that I'm crzy over! It's called greenearthbooks.com. What a great concept! They have a great collection of used books that they sell for dirt cheap (like 4 bucks!) and ship for free in the US. I just ordered two book for less than $13! I have 5 books saved in my wish list just waiting for me to finish my two new ones. They check each book to make sure the book is still in good condition and if not, they recycle them. Just one more way we can stay green! Happy reading

My Horizontal Life by Chelsea Handler

"My Horizontal Life" by Chelsea Handler is pretty much about exactly what the book cover and the title express, Chelsea's many love affairs or better said, one night stands. Now that I'm writing about this book it's making me want to read it again! She has quite a way with words and this makes her one of my favorite author. Her books have more personality than her E! Tv show (which by the way, I LOVE!) I would recommend this book to anyone that is very open minded and is ready for a good laugh! Remember though, Chelsea doesn't really hold back much...

A mind trip

I woke up one morning and thought to myself "what can I do to make me happy today?" That same day, I had a friend ask me about a book I'd read a few years back and that is when I got the idea to start my blog. Not sure how many people really read this blog, but I'm loving writing them and feel even more love for my books and their covers.
Recently I went to Long Beach, CA for a little getaway and a hairshow. I knew I needed to leave the cold to help clear my mind, but on my flight home I had an epiphany! I was reading "codependent no more" on the flight and it really made me want to start my book. I thought a few years ago that I'd write about my dating life because that seemed to entertain may friends and clients, but today I decided I'm going to start from the beginning. I had a great childhood and I love telling people my story. So, flying 30,000 feet in the air, I started to write. It might not make it to the top sellers, but in my mind, it is a top seller! I've been pondering my cover and title for my book. I have a few ideas for the title but once again still stuck on a cover... I guess when it comes to mind, it will be perfect!

Penguin Classics

I'm a huge fan of google reader and love finding new things and tidbits... One day while browsing google reader I came across the Penguin Classic books and ABSOLUTELY fell in love with their covers. For Christmas I asked for a few of them and will eventually own the entire collection... With covers like this, how could I not?  I've started to read "Little Women" by Louisa May Alcott, Siobhan Kilfeather, Vinca Showalter,  and Elaine Showalter. It's a little hard for me to get into and I'm really picky with my books, but I'm going to keep trying! I also received is Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass by Lewis Carroll which is next on my list but I love the covers so much that I thought I'd share before reading them...
